Also referred to as skin needling and collagen induction therapy, micro-needling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure. It uses the power of controlled injury to stimulate skin rejuvenation and regeneration. Micro-needling can also be used in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures or topical medications to increase their effectiveness.

When it comes to aesthetic concerns, micro-needling is best suited to treat:

  • Wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Photoaged skin
  • Skin texture irregularities
  • Stretch marks
  • Skin laxity

This procedure is chemical free, minimally invasive, and brings patients beautiful results.

Micro-needling helps rejuvenate, refresh, and restore the skin by triggering the body’s own natural process of healing. During treatment, fine needles are passed over the affected area. These needles create micro-injuries that are large enough to stimulate healing, but small enough that there is minimal scarring and downtime. In fact, this treatment is so gentle that it is suitable for even the most sensitive areas on the face and body.

Once these needles have pierced the skin, the regeneration process begins. Blood circulates to the area, enriching it with healing growth factors. Collagen and elastin, two structural proteins responsible for how tight and full the skin is, are repaired and restored. Over time, the treatment area begins to become tighter, healthier, and more youthful looking.

Because of the healing response that it stimulates, micro-needling can used in conjunction with topical growth factors and anti-aging serums to increase their effectiveness.

Before treatment begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area to improve patient comfort. The amount of time that each micro-needling procedure takes depends on the size of the treatment area and each patient’s aesthetic goals.

Once treatment is complete, full recovery usually takes between 3-4 days. While some patients only undergo a single treatment, many attend several treatment sessions in order to get the best results. A 4-6 week healing period is typically required between micro-needling procedures.

A micro-needling procedure can help improve the appearance of many of the most common signs of aging. If you’re interested in learning more about what this exciting procedure can do for you, contact us today.
