Hormone Replacement: A Life-Changing Therapy

The correct hormone replacement therapy can truly transform your life because it affects so many issues. At RG Plastic Surgery, we utilize BioTe® hormone replacement, which places a pellet just underneath the skin to release hormones into the bloodstream continuously, all day, for up to six months at a time. This replaces the hormones you have lost.

How BioTe Works

The BioTe pellet is typically placed in the hip or buttock area. Your skin will be cleansed and sterilized, a local anesthetic will be injected, and we will then implant the pellet with a small instrument that creates a track under the skin so that the pellet can easily enter.

Is the pellet insertion painful?

Should I expect any side effects?

Is the pellet insertion painful?

Pain is minimal during pellet insertion. You will feel the needle pinch when we administer the anesthetic, as well as some pressure during the actual procedure. Pellet insertion takes approximately five minutes, so any discomfort is kept short.

Should I expect any side effects?

You may have tenderness and soreness in the area where the pellet was implanted for a few days to a couple of weeks. Swelling may also be present for a few days. Be sure to avoid getting the wound dressing wet for 24 hours following insertion.
