What is the HALO Laser?

The HALO laser is revolutionary. It’s an adjustable, fractional laser that is capable of performing ablative and non-ablative treatments at the same time. The non-ablative wavelength is best at addressing issues like enlarged pores and off-color pigmentation, while the ablative wavelength is best for healing facial scars and texture irregularities.

What Conditions Does HALO Treat?

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Aging skin
  • Laxity
  • Large pores
  • Melasma
  • Acne scars
  • Skin texture and tone issues

HALO on the Red Carpet

HALO Laser Treatments Take the Red Carpet by Storm

Why HALO is Unique

As two lasers in one, HALO is capable of a non-ablative and ablative procedure at once, allowing it to treat a larger variety of conditions than a cosmetic laser designed specifically for one or the other. The handpiece used to perform the HALO laser treatments also comes with a variety of features that enhance the procedure’s comfort — including an integrated cooling system that’s designed to help patients easily tolerate the procedure.

The HALO Technology: Two Wavelengths for Better Results

As the world’s first hybrid fractional laser (HFL) Sciton’s HALO is revolutionizing skin rejuvenation. It delivers two wavelengths of energy (non-ablative and ablative) simultaneously — and by combining both in the same microscopic treatment zone, results are maximized with minimized downtime.

HALO is safe and effective and each wavelength is independently customizable, which allows our team at RG Plastic Surgery to personalize treatments to your needs.

HALO’s two wavelengths is like getting two treatments at once. As a fractional laser treatment, it delivers light energy to the skin through an array of high precision microbeams that penetrate the skin deep into the dermis. HALO creates narrow, deep columns of treated skin surrounded by healthy, untreated skin. This causes the skin to repair itself by replacing old, damaged skin with new, younger, healthier skin. Because HALO delivers fractionated energy, the treatments are safer for many skin types and produce consistent results. The skin heals quickly because it remains intact.

Holistic Treatment at RG Plastic Surgery

At RG Plastic Surgery, we believe in holistic care. With every procedure that is performed, we consider your body as a whole to achieve comprehensive and holistic rejuvenation. In order to do this, treatments are combined to deliver balance and overall improvement. This goes along with Dr. Ramirez Gavidia’s philosophy and views on the artistic side of aesthetic procedures.

HALO Treatment Details

Thirty minutes before your HALO treatment, a topical anesthetic may be applied to your skin to keep you as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Measurements will be taken with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly.

We will address each measured section by uniformly rolling the HALO laser handpiece over the skin until the system recognizes that the treatment is complete.

With the topical anesthetic and the integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort with HALO. Most describe a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable.

Downtime

After 24 hours, you should be able to go about your normal activities. Social downtime varies. Most patients are able to go out in public with a bit of concealer on the first day. The peeling of the MENDS (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris that creates a bronzing effect) will typically occur at day 2-3. You should be able to go back to work within a couple of days.

What to Expect with Healing

Although the healing process varies from patient to patient, recovery generally takes 2-7 days.

For the first 24 hours following HALO, it’s important to keep your skin protected according to our instructions.

Most patients experience a sunburn-type feeling for approximately two hours. There may be a sunburn-type appearance, minor sloughing, and itchiness for a few days.

There may also be some pinpoint bleeding, but this will depend on how aggressive the treatment was. By day two, any redness will begin to fade. By day three, it can be easily covered by makeup. Again, this timeframe varies based on the depth of the treatment.

Our Tips for Healing

  • After the procedure, we will provide you with an ointment to soothe any discomfort
  • Cold compresses are recommended to reduce redness and swelling
  • Sunblock and makeup should be avoided for at least three days, or until they can be applied without causing discomfort
  • After the initial healing phase, we recommend applying sunscreen to the area for the first few months to protect the skin and ensure the best results possible

Results

When your skin heals, you’ll notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture, and color evenness. Your initial results will become visible approximately one week post-treatment once you’ve finished peeling. Your skin will continue to improve in the weeks that follow with collagen remodeling beneath the skin’s surface.

In the first 2-4 weeks, most patients will see pigmentation improve, while deeper skin regeneration means your skin will continue to improve over the ensuing months.

During this time, the skin may show increasing improvements in tightness and resilience.

Your at-home skincare regimen, the use of protective sunscreen, and the avoidance of prolonged sun exposure are key to lasting results and healthy skin. Your daily habits make a difference in the lasting power of your treatment. We can help you create a skin routine to keep your skin glowing and beautiful.

FAQ

Is the HALO laser safe?

How many treatments will I need?

Who is the best candidate for HALO?

Is the HALO laser safe?

The customizable nature and state-of-the-art technology of the HALO laser make it a very safe treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Although you’ll see improvements with each HALO session, the number of treatments you undergo will be up to you. During your consultation, Dr. Ramirez Gavidia will make recommendations. Multiple, milder treatments are an option, or you may decide to have a more aggressive combination of treatments. The beauty of HALO is that it is completely customizable according to your personal aesthetic goals.

Who is the best candidate for HALO?

Dr. Ramirez Gavidia will evaluate if you are a candidate for the HALO laser during your consultation. The treatment is programmable for numerous skin conditions and pigments for a more customizable procedure. Still, some individuals are better candidates than others. Because of this, it’s important that you come in for a consultation that will involve medical photographs, a detailed discussion of your medical history, and an understanding of your goals and expectations. We will lay out your options and a treatment plan that will be right for you and your aesthetic goals. In general, a good candidate for a HALO has acne scars, discolored spots, wrinkles, or other skin conditions. One treatment will achieve visible results for most patients, but multiple sessions will provide the best results for those with deep scarring and more severe skin conditions.
