Neuromodulators: Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau

How Neuromodulators Work

Neuromodulators work blocking the signal from the nerve cell that is instructing the muscles to contract. If the muscle isn’t “told” to contract, it cannot make a full wrinkle.

Botox

FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2002, Botox is by far the most well-known neuromodulator. It has an excellent track record and is very effective and popular. Botox is ideal for addressing forehead lines, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet. Results are usually visible within 10-14 days following treatment and last 3-6 months.

Dysport

Dysport is very similar to Botox, but it has different proteins attached to its active molecules. The Dysport formula is thinner than that of Botox, which makes it spread more easily — and therefore achieves results faster. Dysport is also especially effective for horizontal lines in the forehead. Results are visible within 2-3 days and can last 4-6 months.

Jeuveau

Jeuveau is still a newer neuromodulator, making its official debut in 2019. Clinically developed only for cosmetic use only, Jeuveau is dedicated exclusively to aesthetics and is made with a state-of-the-art manufacturing process called Hi-Pure™ technology that makes it purer and extremely safe. Peak results with Jeuveau are apparent in 7-10 days, and results can last 5-6 months.
