What to Expect During the Procedure

Anesthesia is administered before the procedure begins. Depending on the size of the area being treated, this can be either local or general anesthesia.

During the procedure, the tumescent solution (anesthetic and adrenaline) is infiltrated under the skin, then the fat is “melted” using VASER® Hi-Def lipo. The fat is then removed gently using Micro-Air®, which allows the body to be sculpted. Following the procedure, the healing process is relatively quick. In fact, most patients can return to their normal daily activities within a few days of having surgery.

Removing fat from these problematic areas can improve your shape and appearance, but one limitation of liposuction is that it cannot improve changes in the skin such as cellulite and stretch marks. Because liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, it is not advised to undergo the procedure if you’re overweight.

Patients that have excess skin and separation of the rectus muscles will need a different procedure, such as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
