A labiaplasty is an outpatient surgery that can be performed with the patient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. While the specific details will vary slightly from patient to patient, there are generally two techniques:

The Trim/Edge Technique

Recovery and Results

Most patients take about one week off of work to recover from labiaplasty. To help with discomfort, we recommend pain relievers, sitz baths, and cold compresses. You will need to refrain from using tampons and having sexual intercourse for 3-6 weeks following your procedure to ensure proper healing. Also avoid long showers and rubbing the treated area after washing.

(Gently patting the area dry is fine.) Exercising, bike riding, running, etc. will need to be put on hold until Dr. Ramirez Gavidia clears you to continue. In addition, do not wear any tight clothing around the vaginal area during recovery.
